Breaking the silence
Posted on 17 February 08, in subdued, personal
Has it really been over a year since something happened here? I guess so. Time to think about what I am going to do with this website.
The previous version of my website was created to showcase my ability as a designer. Not so much through the portfolio as through the site itself, as I did not have much of a portfolio yet. My goal was to land an internship, and some freelance projects in order to gain experience. My site got noticed, and I was fortunate enough to get several great offers for both internships as freelance projects. My goal was achieved, but the site lost it's purpose.

The past
I had not thought about what I wanted to do with my website in the long run. Maybe display some of my work, or post a blog entry every now and then. But about what? Quite frankly, I did not have a lot to say back then. I wanted to learn, gain experience, and get better at webdesign. So that's what I did.
Fully focused on my jobs and studies, I didn't pay much attention to this website. It got dusty, and finally, completely neglected.
The present
A couple of years have passed. I've had the opportunity to work for clients small and big, locally and internationally, and gained quite a bit of experience through that. That is not to say I am all that now, but I am moving forward and getting better at my profession.
Today, I feel more confident to join the conversation on webdesign. And that is exactly what I intend to do. In order to do so, I started rebuilding my website.
As you might notice, it's not done yet. Some elements are not working properly, the coding needs attention, the implemantion of graphic (backgrounds) is still in "quick 'n dirty" testing phase, and so on. Yet, I decided to go live anyway. This is a personal site, with an experimental nature, so I thought it wouldn't be all bad to go live while I continue to finish everything. It might actually push me to finish everything asap.
The future
Who knows what the future will bring? I certainly don't. What I do know is that I have an ongoing passion for design and the web, and will continue (building) my career around those.
As stated, I intend to join the conversation on webdesign. I will try to write about the web regularly, design, and any related topics from my point of view as a designer and web enthusiast. Only time will tell how successful this attempt will be, but I am going to give it my best shot.
So there you go. A start on a fresh new site, a long-term goal, and a first post to start things of. On to the next!

Feb 18, 05:08 PMHello!
Your blog’s design is very cool. But there is a problem about RSS functionality (http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/8589/ 02182008175926hv6.jpg).
